VICTORIA MBYA REDD+ & ARR

INDIGENOUS CLIMATE LEADERSHIP THROUGH NATURE-BASED BUSINESS

Victoria Mbya REDD+ & ARR is located in Misiones, Argentina, and is composed of three indigenous communities Tekoa Peruti, Tekoa Kaaguy Porá 2 y Tekoa Renacer, situated across three municipalities. The entire Argentine’s Atlantic Forest is currently facing a critical ecological crisis due to decades of unsustainable land-use practices.

This highly biodiverse forest is divided into three phytogeographic subregions and nine distinct floristic communities, each home to unique species, endemic plants, and varied ecological conditions. The three project areas are located within two of these subregions.

VICTORIA MBYA REDD+ & ARR

In Argentina, MBYA Indigenous communities have lost much of their ancestral land, often living on degraded territories. With Victoria MBYA REDD+ & ARR, they are building a carbon-based business model to:

🌳 Restore forests and develop agroforestry systems with native trees and organic yerba mate to generate high quality carbon credits..

🏗 Build a drying and processing mill to strengthen the Indigenous yerba mate value chain..
